Probe Obasanjo or forget anti-corruption war

A former Chairman, Senate Committee on Water Resources, Senator Joseph Waku,  on Tuesday in Kaduna asked President Muhammadu Buhari  to either probe former President Olusegun Obasanjo  or forget about his current war against corruption in the country. He also predicted that without Buhari, the governing party was bound to lose the 2019 general election. He said Nigerians would not take President Buhari’s fight against corruption seriously if Obasanjo  was left untouched by anti-graft agency, the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Olusegun Obasanjo The 4th Republic Senator said he had already told the President that Nigerians would only take his ant-corruption seriously if the likes of Obasanjo, whom he claimed introduced corruption to Nigeria, were probed. Chelsea 3-2 Bristol Rovers: Batshuayi double keeps Blues going in League Cup

The new signing at the London club was on target to frustrate the visitors' dreams of a famous upset, despite a gritty comeback later in the game Michy Batshuayi scored twice as Chelsea survived a scare against Bristol Rovers to reach the third round of the League Cup with a 3-2 win at Stamford Bridge. The League One outfit won the last meeting between the sides back in 1981, but there was to be no repeat on Tuesday despite a battling performance in which they twice halved a two-goal deficit to keep Chelsea on their toes. Antonio Conte's side, entering the competition at this phase for the first time since 1996, took charge of the game during the first half thanks to goals from close-season signing Batshuayi and Victor Moses in the space of two minutes. Defender Peter Hartley headed in a lifeline for the visitors on 35 minutes, and though Batshuayi struck again before the break to calm some of the nerves among the home fans, Ellis Harrison's penalty gave Rovers hope again. ...

Conte: Chelsea must learn to kill matches

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says his side must learn to kill off matches quicker following their 3-2 League Cup win over Bristol Rovers. Michy Batshuayi scored two goals either side of a Victor Moses strike at Stamford Bridge to send the home side into the third round, but they were given a fright when the visitors twice halved a two-goal deficit through Peter Hartley and an Ellis Harrison penalty. The victory is Conte's third in competitive matches as Chelsea boss, following 2-1 wins over West Ham and Watford in the Premier League - both of which came about thanks to late goals from Diego Costa. And the former Italy boss wants his players to become more ruthless in their approach in order to prevent similarly nervy encounters in future. "These games are very tough," he told BBC Radio London Sport. "When you dominate the game, you must kill the game. In this case, we didn't do this. "It's a pity because when you're playing very well, creating a lot...

He explained that the emergence of President Buhari was a collective decision of Nigerians who voted him massively in the last election, saying no single person or group can claim the glory. “I was shocked by media reports quoting me as saying I and a few others brought President Buhari to power to save Nigeria. “I never said that because it is not true. Nigerians voted overwhelmingly for the president and we are all witnesses to that fact. No single person or group can claim that glory,” he said.
