Fayose should remain in PDP till after election- Lalong

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, on Thursday urged his counterpart in Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose to remain in the Peoples Democratic Party until after his state governorship election in 2018.

Lalong advised Fayose to perish the thought of joining the ruling All Progressives Congress now that the party is consolidating its hold in the South West.

The Plateau State governor said this while speaking to reporters during the APC North Central Zonal Congress, held in Abuja.

The congress was organised to nominate people to fill vacant national party positions.

Lalong led the APC’s national campaign team to the just concluded Ondo State Governorship elections.

He equally expressed confidence that the party will win the upcoming Rivers Re-run election as well as the Anambra State governorship election.

In an apparent response to Fayose’s threat to dump the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Lalong said, “The one I am waiting for is Ekiti.

“I understand that after Ondo, the man has been saying he wants to come to APC, we are saying he should remain in the PDP till after the election.

“We just came back from Ondo and we were again recruited yesterday to go to Rivers State again and conduct another election. Our own is to ask for your usual and continued support.

“Before now, some people were looking down on the APC, but now people with ambitions for 2019 are withdrawing from the PDP and coming to the APC.

“We are going to Rivers and we will win the elections there, after there, we are moving to Anambra and that one is a done deal.”

Fayose had announced that he may dump the PDP to find an alternative platform for his planned successor. While making the threat, he was quoted as saying, “Today, I am the only one among the APC governors in the South-West.
