APC sets to ride on PDP’s waning popularity —Chieftain

Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ekiti State, Dr. Adebayo Orire, has said that his party will ride on the waning popularity of the present Peoples Democratic Party, PDP government in the state to power through the forthcoming 2018 governorship election.

Orire, a governorship hopeful, said the present administration in the state had already played into the hands of the APC through alleged n o n - p e r f o r m a n c e , adding that his party was waiting in the wings to defeat the PDP at the poll.

The medical doctor and politician told journalists in Ado Ekiti at the weekend that all the APC needed to do for victory was to put its house in order and be united to be able to wrest power from the PDP, adding: “The prospect of the APC in the state is bright and we are in a good stead to win election when the time comes”.

The APC chieftain, who dismissed the acclaimed popularity of the state governor as non-existent, said: “Fayose’s popularity is a non-issue because the civil servants are unhappy; teachers are disgruntled while the artisans have been abandoned. This development has given us the edge and we are ready to take advantage of the situation.”

The governorship hopeful, who described himself as the best person for the office in 2018, said his experience, his investments in Ekiti as well as his knowledge of the problems bedeviling the people of the state, stood him out.

Orire said: “I am the best for Ekiti. I say this because I know the issues. I studied here, I live here in Ekiti; I have my investments here, and I have remained steadfast in my political leaning as a progressive since the days of Action Congress of Democrats, ACD.”

IMMUNITY BILL: A MISPLACED PRIORITY

Certainly, it is not a matter of conjecture to say that the undue interference and unpalatably flagrant disregard to separation of power by the executive tier of government has raised more questions than answers on the integrity of this government and the commitment of the leadership to truly push for the genuine change in line with democratic norms all over the world.   Fatunde Bamidele Samuel (VEGA) writes from lagos. Recently, the society was encapsulated with shocking news of pension bill for the National Assembly members. However, the bill was dead on arrival. This is nothing but another heinous attempt to permanently ground the country that is already suffering from the bloodsucking bedbugs (NASS) and former governors pensions. These are almost sucking the finances of this country dry; if and only if we could act fast to salvage it then we can only hope the existence of Nigeria will not be history. The recent exploit of the National Assembly is evi...
