Take direct ownership of party, Lagos PDP charges members

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Lagos State has been charged to take ownership of the party and should not allow it to be hijacked by money bags. Making this charge in Lagos at weekend during an emergency Assembly of the party, was the party state chairman, Hon. Moshood Salvador. This is just as he vowed that the party would win the forthcoming bye- election into the House of Representatives for the Ifako-Ijaye Federal Constituency of the state, disclosing that his office had so far received five letters of aspiration from aspirants on the party platform.
Salvador
Salvador made this call while addressing chieftains and members, who gathered for an emergency Assembly to chart the way forward for the party, contending that this step was the best road to take now that the leadership wanted to take the party back to the masses of the country.

The chairman, who likened the resolve of PDP leadership to return to era of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) and National Republican ConventiSalvadoron (NRC) when members were regarded as co-joiners and co-funders, said there was nothing bad if members were committed to funding the party by ensuring payment of a minimum of N100 each monthly for the running of the party.

He said with such gesture, members would have a strong say in how the party was being managed, warning that money-bags would dictate on how the party should be run and managed if they were allowed to continue to fund the platform.

“Our leaders are talking of giving power to the masses. If you allow some people to fund the party, they would dictate to you. If you bring your N100 to the party secretariat as your contribution for the running of the party, you would have a say on how the party should be run, ”he said.

Conte: Chelsea must learn to kill matches

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says his side must learn to kill off matches quicker following their 3-2 League Cup win over Bristol Rovers. Michy Batshuayi scored two goals either side of a Victor Moses strike at Stamford Bridge to send the home side into the third round, but they were given a fright when the visitors twice halved a two-goal deficit through Peter Hartley and an Ellis Harrison penalty. The victory is Conte's third in competitive matches as Chelsea boss, following 2-1 wins over West Ham and Watford in the Premier League - both of which came about thanks to late goals from Diego Costa. And the former Italy boss wants his players to become more ruthless in their approach in order to prevent similarly nervy encounters in future. "These games are very tough," he told BBC Radio London Sport. "When you dominate the game, you must kill the game. In this case, we didn't do this. "It's a pity because when you're playing very well, creating a lot...
